Images of not more than 10 MB in size must be submitted online. Media Services (Private) Limited may request images of higher resolution subsequently. As the winning images will be published, the original images should be at least 3 MB in size.
Shortlisted finalists will be notified via email to submit their original images within a week.
Submitted images should be in JPEG format with a width of at least 1,600 pixels for a horizontal image; vertical images must have a minimum height of 1,600 pixels.
The ICC profile must be embedded. Adobe RGB, sRGB or greyscale gamma 2.2 is recommended.
Each participant can submit up to five images.
Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be accepted. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment and simple cropping are permitted.
Advanced editing used to create illusions, deceptions and/or manipulations, and the adding and removing of significant elements within the frame are prohibited.
An image can only be entered once. Images submitted more than once will be disqualified.
Images must not show the name of the photographer, agency, publication or any other information (these details can be included in the metadata of the images but must not be visible on the image itself). There must be no border(s), logo(s), copyright marks, identifying marks or any other visible references and/or marks on the image.
Media Services (Private) Limited reserves the right to reject images with incomplete details and those that do not comply with the requirements stated above.
All submitted images are nonreturnable. The file name for each image should be clearly labelled with the participant’s name and where the image was taken (e.g. ‘Samantha Perera, Dambulla cave temple’).
A unique title and short description must also be submitted with each entry.
The details in the form on the photo competition page on the website must be accurate and complete.
JUDGING AND RESULTS
The images will be selected by a panel of judges and their decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained.
The panel of judges will evaluate the images based on the following criteria:
Extent to which the photograph captures the essence of the theme
Relevance to the theme
The judging panel reserves the right to not award prizes if the images submitted do not meet the stated requirements.
Results of the competition will be posted on the Discover Sri Lanka website and winners will also be notified via email.
